Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has stated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to enhancing the standards of the aviation sector, just as the recent reorganization in the sector was aimed at improving the well-being of the passengers and all stakeholders in the Aviation industry.
The Minister stated this recently at the official induction training and signing of the performance bond for the newly appointed Chief Executive Officers and Directors of aviation Agencies in Abuja. Keyamo said under his leadership, the aviation sector will focus on optimizing and boosting revenue generation for Nigeria’s Aviation industry and also ensure strict compliance with international regulations and standards.
“Our five-point Agenda is a tool for achieving the Ministry’s Mandate, Vision, and Mission which include ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and continuous upward movement of Nigeria’s rating by ICAO; Support for the growth and sustenance of local airline businesses whilst holding them to the highest international standards in the Aviation industry; Improvement of infrastructures in the Aviation industry; Development of human capacity within the industry; Optimizing revenue generation for the federal government”, he further stated.
Keyamo implored the CEOs to prioritize transparency, efficiency, and collaboration to ensure effective public service delivery, adding that the collective effort is to build a safe, secure, and efficient aviation industry focused on making Nigeria a hub that meets international standards and best practices for the African continent. “Your roles carry significant responsibilities, and I trust that your commitment and expertise will contribute to the growth and success of our parastatals. Together, let us strive for excellence, innovation, and service to our nation” he said.
The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, whilst congratulating the newly appointed Chief Executives of the Aviation Agencies, prayed that they will live up to expectations and work towards achieving the Mandate, Vision, and Mission of the Ministry.
He said the Chief executive officers (CEOs) are responsible for implementing government policies and projects in a timely, fair, honest, effective, and transparent manner, and providing overall direction toward the successful execution of government projects under the supervision of the Ministry.
Highlights of the event include presentations on the overview of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Public Service Rules, and extant circulars on Management in the Public Service and stakeholders’ Expectations. Presidential mandate on aviation, associated KPIs’ and governance mechanisms, Financial Regulations and subsequent the signing of performance bonds by the CEOs.
